Getting Ready for Your First Visit

Your first visit with us is an important step in understanding your fertility and creating a plan that works for you. We know this process may feel overwhelming at first, but we’re here to guide you every step of the way, making sure you know what to expect and feel fully supported.

To book your first appointment, you’ll need a referral from your healthcare provider. If you don’t have a doctor or need help obtaining a referral, you can connect with RocketDoctor, a virtual walk-in clinic, to help you get started.

Once we receive your referral, our team will reach out to you directly with the next steps. This includes completing some essential patient history forms, which are important for us to get to know you and your unique needs. If you have a partner and plan to use their eggs, sperm, or uterus, we’ll also need their medical history and consent to involve them in the process.

We use the eIVF patient portal to provide all the forms you’ll need before your first consultation. Completing these forms ahead of time helps us make the most of your visit and ensures we’re ready to take the next steps together.

If you have any questions or need assistance with the forms, our team is always here to help. However, it’s important that these forms are completed before your appointment—missing forms may result in your visit being rescheduled.

Your first visit is about getting the clearest picture of your fertility health. Together, we’ll review your medical history and discuss your family-building goals. Based on this conversation, your doctor will recommend a series of diagnostic tests to better understand the root causes of any challenges you may be facing. They will also create a personal fertility wellness plan as the foundation of your treatment.

These tests may include:

Bloodwork

  • Bloodwork for both you and your partner (if applicable) is covered by OHIP.

  • AMH bloodwork (a private pay service) to assess ovarian reserve for patients assigned female at birth.

Ultrasounds

  • A complete pelvic ultrasound, covered by OHIP, followed by transvaginal ultrasounds during your menstrual cycle, for patients assigned female at birth.

Sonohysterogram

  • A specialized ultrasound to assess the uterus and fallopian tubes, covered by OHIP, for patients assigned female at birth.

Semen Analysis

  • For patients assigned male at birth, this test assesses sperm health, including motility, count, and morphology, covered by OHIP.

Once your diagnostic tests are complete, you’ll meet with your physician again to review the results. This is where we’ll work together to create a treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs, goals, and the insights we’ve gained from your tests.

We know this can be a lot to take in, but you’re not in this alone. Our team is here to guide you, answer your questions, and ensure you feel informed and supported at every step.
